Mardi HImal Trek is a short and adventurous trekking in Nepal. Mardi Himal Trekking is newly open trekking trails which is located in the Annapurna region. Mardi Himal is situated just to the south of Mt. Machhapuchhre which is popularly known as Fishtail Mountain. Few trekkers have visited the valley and the ridge to the south of Mardi Himal.

Mardi Himal Trekking starts at a low altitude, gently winding through tropical vegetation and waterfalls and inhabited village offering incredible view of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Ranges. This region is inhabited by the Magar and Gurung people, who are a mixture of Buddhists and Hindus people. Trekking in the Mardi Himal region is more of a cultural experience with simple teahouse and homestay.

Mardi Himal trek also offers the golden sunrise view over the famous mountain Machhapuchare and leave you breathless moment. Machhapuchhre is the sacred of the Queen of Nepal and has never been climbed. Your trek in the Mardi Himal region will show you this most picturesque of all peaks from many different angles.

New Mardi Himal Trek is the name of the long rising ridge and its summit at 5,580 m, that forms the southwesterly slope of Mt. Machhapuchhre immediately below its sheer south face. Machhapuchhre towers majestically over the very good valley in Pokhara, is best known as Fishtail Mountain because of its twin peaks that mirrors the image of fish tail. It is superbly beautiful and is considered sacred, so no permits have yet been issued to climb this mountain.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 01 :Arrival to Kathmandu (1320)

Day 02 :Kathmandu to Pokhara, 6-7 hour

Day 03 :Drive to Kade from Pokhara then trek to Deurali 2100m

Day 04 :Deurali to Forest Camp, 2600m

Day 05 :Forest Camp to Badal Danda (3212m) via Low Camp (2970m)

Day 06 :Badal Danda to High Camp, 3550m

Day 07 :Hike to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4500m) and return to Low Camp for over night

Day 08 :Low Camp to Sidhing Village – drive back to Pokhara

Day 09 :Pokhara to Kathmandu

Day 10 :Departure or extend your Program.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01 :Arrival to Kathmandu (1320) Our Airport Representative will meet you at the Tribhuwan International Airport. A drop to the Hotel by private tourist vehicle is arranged. You can either take a rest or meet us at our office and know the detail arrangement of the Trek. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 02 :Kathmandu to Pokhara, 6-7 hour Drive to Pokhara (200 km. 6/7 hours driving) by tourist bus (at 7:00 AM) in the morning from Kantipath and then overnight at the Hotel in Pokhara.

Day 03 :Drive to Kade from Pokhara then trek to Deurali 2100m You drive to the trailhead, the route from Kande is a good one and very few trekkers choose to start the trek from here. The trail is good, first slowly up, then a bit steeper to Australian Camp (2060m – About one hour), then after an early lunch slightly downhill to Pothana (1950m) and the ACAP / TIMS checkpoint, then up again to Deurali (2100m). And then overnight at Lodge.

Day 04 :Deurali to Forest Camp, 2600m There is a right turn in Deurali signposted “Forest Camp” the trail is through jungle, at first up then undulating on the top of a ridge, there is a section just over half way where the trail drops steeply and then slowly gains height and then back onto the ridge and into Forest Camp (2600m)after about 4 hour trekking. There are now 3 lodges in Forrest Camp. Simple but clean so again a good choice.

Day 05 :Forest Camp to Badal Danda (3212m) via Low Camp (2970m) The trail is initially quite steep leaving Forest Camp but soon gets less steep as you again get upon the ridge. From Forest Camp to Low Camp is only a short day trekking through more jungle with occasional glimpses of Annapurna South before getting into Low Camp (2970m) after around 3 hours. Trek continues to Badal Danda from where you could excellent panoramic views of snow Himalaya. Although there are 2 lodges in Badal Danda, the lodges are very simple.

Day 06 :Badal Danda to High Camp, 3550m The trail leaves Low Camp again in jungle, but the trees soon start to get smaller and after about one hours trekking broke out of the jungle and onto the open ridge with spectacular views of Machhapuchhre ahead and Annapurna South to my left. The trail then undulates along the ridge and after about 3 hours trekking we arrived at High Camp (3550m).and then overnight at Lodge.

Day 07 :Hike to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4500m) and return to Low Camp for over night It is possible to continue trekking along the ridge for another 4 to 5 hours to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4500m) and return to High Camp in around 4 hours – This makes a long day but there is also a viewpoint about half way. And then overnight at Lodge.

Day 08 :Low Camp to Sidhing Village – drive back to Pokhara From Low Camp hike to Sidhing Village via Forest Camp then drive back to Pokhara. Trek about 6 to 7 hours then drive about 2 hours. Overnight in Pokhara.

Day 09 :Pokhara to KathmanduDrive from Pokhara to Kathmandu (200 km. 6/7 hours driving) by tourist bus at 7:30 am. And stay overnight at the Hotel in Kathmandu

Day 10 :Departure or extend your Program.A drop from the hotel to the airport 3 hours before the scheduled time of flight is arranged in a private tourist vehicle. You can also extend your trip by opting for another program.
