This is a very special day for the Annapurna Circuit and Nar Phu Valley Trek because you will see Tilicho Lake. However, you will start your day at Tilicho Base Camp early in order to avoid the afternoon breeze. Due to the steepness of the trail, it will take two to three hours of effort to get to Tilicho Lake, one of the highest lakes in the world. As you move along, yaks and deer will be grazing above and below your path. Tilicho Lake, a large lake with a stunning setting, is located on the other side, hidden behind the north face of Tilicho Peak.

An elite French expedition team referred to Tilicho Lake as "The Great Ice Lake." The three majestic peaks that surround Tilicho Lake are the Tilicho Himal, Annapurna Range, and Nilgiri Himal. The Lake also holds a unique place in Hinduism since it is mentioned in The Ramayan, one of the religion's holiest books. You will enjoy the splendors of Tilicho Lake before heading back to Siri Kharka, where you will spend the night.

The journey you will undertake today is one of the toughest in the entire Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake and Thorong La Pass. In addition to being a Buddhist temple, Muktinath is the second-largest Hindu temple. The Muktinath shrine receives a high number of Hindu pilgrims. In Muktinath, there are two small ponds and 108 water taps. Hindus believe that by taking showers from 108 different faucets, you may atone for previous misdeeds. A holy natural gas flame sparkles behind a grill just above the spring at Dhola Mebar Gompa, or the Jwalamai (goddess of fire) temple, a little distance away via a group of Chorten.

A tea house combines the functions of a restaurant, hotel, and public gathering place. The bedrooms are furnished with twin beds and not much else, such as little tables or chairs. Although blankets are frequently offered, it is advised that you bring your own sleeping bags. The majority of restrooms either have squatting toilets or more comfortable sitting toilets. Most lodges feature hot water for showers, however, utilizing hot showers costs extra.

Annapurna Circuit Trek with Nar Phu and Tilicho Difficulty Level

The Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho and Nar Phu is quite challenging. The strenuous level of difficulty of this journey is a result of the route's tremendous elevation. The area's highest pass, Thorung La, is situated along the hiking trail and rises to a height of 5416 meters. This part of the journey is so challenging that it is closed for most of the year due to the extreme cold and heavy snowfall. Additionally, when traveling, you always remain above 3000 meters. Some of the most challenging terrains, which are typically harsh, rocky, and steep, are traversed. Contrary to many other treks, this trek has an unalterable degree of difficulty. Although you have the option to forego some of the pathways, doing so would mean that you would lose out on the highlights of the experience. The only thing a trekker can do to prepare physically and mentally for the journey.

Annapurna Circuit Trek with Nar Phu and Tilicho Travel Insurance

You must have travel insurance for the Annapurna Circuit Trek including Tilicho Lake and Nar Phu since you will be trekking at a height of 3000 meters. Frighteningly expensive are medical emergencies and evacuations due to illness or injury. Therefore, we strongly advise purchasing travel insurance for everyone who books a trek with Green Valley Nepal Treks. We advise you to make a thorough decision when selecting coverage because certain insurers have certain limitations for dangerous travel. Before purchasing insurance, make sure your provider is prepared to cover all of the activities involved while on the trip and is aware of the Annapurna Circuit Trek with Nar Phu and Tilicho itinerary you intend to follow. You must have emergency helicopter rescue and medical expense coverage with your insurance if you want to go hiking or mountain climbing in the Himalayas. Since all payments for deposits are non-refundable, check your insurance coverage to make sure that trip cancellation is covered.

Altitude Sickness and Remedies during Annapurna Circuit Trek with Nar Phu and Tilicho

When the body cannot adjust to the low levels of oxygen and high air pressure found in high-altitude mountains, altitude sickness emerges. Many hikers and mountaineers experience acute mountain sickness at an altitude of 3000 meters because the oxygen level starts to decline. To prevent altitude sickness during Annapurna Circuit - Nar Phu - Tilicho Lake Trek, take into account the following advice:

    • Keep yourself hydrated when hiking and stay away from alcohol because it dehydrates you.
    • Maintain a healthy diet throughout the trip.

    • Before hiking at an elevation of more than 3,000 meters, acclimate appropriately.
    • If your body reveals any symptoms of altitude sickness, you must either stop immediately or lower some elevation.

Annapurna with Nar Phu Valley and Tilicho Lake Trek in August

In August, I successfully completed my Annapurna with Nar Phu Valley and Tilicho Lake Trek with the aid of Green Valley Nepal Treks. Our guide was fantastic, well-prepared, wonderfully helpful, and knowledgeable, and he accompanied me on my trek. He gave us a tour of Kathmandu after the hike and helped us with the rest of our travel arrangements in Nepal. He came up with some amazing recommendations for things to do and places to eat for us. On the hike, he offered us a glimpse of Nepal's mountain people. Very kind and a great guide for the trek! Strongly advised.

    FAQs
    • Yes, trekkers must have registered the following trekking permits:

      • Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP)
      • Trekker’s Information Management System (TIMS)
      • Nar Phu Valley Special (Restricted) Permit
    • According to your budget, available time, and degree of fitness, we are willing to modify this package. You may either plan a flight from Jomsom airport to Pokhara after crossing the tallest Thorung La pass, or you can book a full circuit through Poonhill, depending on your timetable. Green Valley Nepal Treks has a track record of planning client-specific treks that meet their needs.

    • Without a guide, solo trekkers are not allowed to traverse the Nar Phu Valley. It needs a minimum of two group members and a certified trekking guide. One of the regions of Nepal's vast Himalayas' restricted area is the Nar Phu Valley. As a result, you need to follow the trekking permit instructions. However, it is impossible to trek totally on your own if you don't want to hire a guide.

    • Of course not, you may only utilize in urban areas such as Pokhara and Kathmandu, not on the Trekking route. All you need while traveling outside of the city is cash, preferably in tiny denominations. Before you head to the highlands, kindly exchange your money for local Nepali rupees.

    • Hikers may get Wi-Fi at several guesthouses for a nominal fee. In lower hills, it could function properly, but in the mountains, the connection might not be reliable, making it difficult for hikers to use the internet anytime they need to.

    • You can drink water from a bottle, purified drinking water, or tap water. We advise you to purchase purified refill water from your tea house lodge. Depending on where you are, each refueling may only cost you a little fee. The price rises as you ascend in height.

    • There are no issues at all for vegetarians because lodges often provide vegetarian meals. Additionally, in order to prevent food poisoning, we constantly advise our clients to consume vegetarian meals. High altitude meals that are not vegetarian are unsafe for the stomach.

    • For two trekkers carrying around 25 kg of baggage, Green Valley Nepal Treks will offer one porter (maximum 12 kg for each trekker). Porters are those employees that not only carry your bags but also uplift your spirits. They could put out extra effort to get you to your goal because of your generosity and devotion.

    • The greatest height one can reach while trekking is at Thorong La Pass (5416m), which presents a significant challenge for thrill seekers.

    • The free storage is offered by the hotel in Kathmandu. Thus, you may leave all of your belongings that are not necessary for the walk at your hotel or in our office.
