Useful Info

Best Time (Season) to Hike Mount Everest Camp in 12 Days

Spring and autumn are the two most popular trekking seasons in Nepal, whether it's for Everest Base Camp or any other place.

The months of February, March, April, and May have mostly steady and dry weather with a mild climate. This time of year is ideal for hiking in the Everest area, with daily views of the mountains and scenery that are crystal clear. Thousands of flowers and plants bloom in the spring, making the walk in Nepal more attractive and fun.

Autumn, which encompasses the months of September, October, November, and December, is another fantastic time to hike at Everest Base Camp. During the fall, daytime temperatures range from 14 to 20 degrees Celsius, while overnight temperatures might drop to -5 to -10 degrees Celsius, making it ideal for hiking.

Food at 12 Days Everest Base Camp Trek

As a result of the high altitude ascent, your body will require enough carbohydrates and proteins. Food and delicacies from the local area are highly recommended since they are considerably more hygienic. Dal Bhat, a Nepalese meal, is a great option since it has both carbs and protein. The lentils, beans, and pulses soup will provide you with lots of protein. Additional nutrition will be provided via seasonal veggies.

Momo (dumplings), locally grown Barley, Buckwheat, Millet, and Corn Roti (Bread), noodles, sandwiches, bakery products, tea, coffee, and more are among the menu items available. High-fiber grains such as buckwheat, millet, and barley are also nutritionally rich. Noodles, spaghetti, macaroni, pizza, lasagna, curry meals, and fried rice are just a few of the foods that may be made quickly.

At high elevations, fresh vegetable products, green tea, lemon tea, hot lemon, ginger tea, and garlic soup are all highly recommended. We will not recommend non-vegetarian selections since the meat may not be as hygienic. At high altitudes, dairy food, alcoholic beverages, caffeinated beverages, and hot chocolates must all be avoided.

Accommodation for 12 Days Everest Base Camp Trekking

We will manage you a high-end accommodation and teahouse at your price range. Our 12-day Everest Base Camp Trekking Itinerary offers accommodations in budget-friendly hotels and lodges. The teahouse has comfortable mattresses with pillows, electric blankets, hot and cold showers, and other amenities. The accommodation usually has two single beds for two trekkers in a group, but if necessary, a single room can be given. Our accommodation offers nice views, comfortable mattresses, and attached bathrooms (not everywhere). If you are touring alone, we can arrange separate rooms.

Difficulties of 12 Days Everest Base Camp Trek

The Everest Base Camp Package is a moderate trip that lasts 12 days. This journey might be difficult for those who are new to hiking, particularly in Himalayan terrain. Because you'll be hiking through dangerous trails filled with numerous obstacles. You can overcome any challenges on this hike if you train effectively and plan ahead of time. You must hike for at least 5 to 6 hours each day on this expedition. The terrain is steep and strenuous, with several ups and downs. Good health and physical fitness are required for this expedition.

Some of the significant challenges that you may face during this high-altitude trek are as follows:

  • Altitude sickness is a serious challenge on every Nepal hiking trip. Trekkers are susceptible to altitude sickness because the routes traverse through high altitudes exceeding 4000m.
  • This trek's paths take you through difficult, isolated, hilly, and harsh terrain. As a result, you'll have to traverse through these trials and establish your abdominal muscles. The trekkers will also face a variety of obstacles, such as tiny cliffs, steep routes, meadows, deep valleys, boulder-filled roads, and so on.
  • During the expedition, the trekkers must walk for at least 5 to 6 hours every day for 10 to 12 days. Most trekkers will find these long-distance hikes hard. For individuals who have never hiked in these surroundings before, going for such a lengthy period of time might be rather overwhelming.

Green Valley Nepal Trek's 12 days Everest Base Camp Itinerary is designed to carefully acclimatize trekkers so they don't get altitude sickness.

Requirement of Travel Insurance for 12 days Everest Base Camp Trip

Travel insurance is required for trekkers taking part in any mountain treks or tours for safety purposes. Purchasing travel insurance, especially while traveling in mountainous locations, is like having a safety net on which you can rely and relax while on your excursion. We strongly advise purchasing comprehensive travel insurance that includes emergency helicopter rescue and medical evacuation coverage. It will be an added protection trip, including coverage for personal injury, damage, evacuation costs, and any sickness. Having appropriate travel insurance will give you not only peace of mind while traveling with us, but also total coverage for any catastrophes that may occur.

Altitude Sickness and Remedies during 12 Days Trek to Everest Base Camp

While hiking around the world's tallest peak, you need to take some safety precautions. The risk of high altitude sickness is quite serious while undertaking the Everest 12 Days Trek. You should practice appropriate acclimatization by rising gently, drinking enough fluids, avoiding alcohol, and quitting smoking before starting your journey. To avoid high altitude sickness, some hikers take Acetazolamide (Diamox), which will aid in your body's proper acclimatization. Above 3,000 meters in elevation, the preventive dosage is 125 mg taken two or three times each day. If symptoms such as a headache, nausea, lack of appetite, trouble falling asleep, weariness, dizziness, or lightheadedness arise, raise the dose to 250 mg twice or three times daily. When symptoms of high altitude sickness become severe, you should descend right away, if required with assistance, a porter, or guide.

FAQs
  • There is, in fact. There is a baggage limitation for every flight you take. No different on the flight to Lukla. You are permitted to take 15 kilograms of cargo per passenger on your flight. In your checked luggage, you are allowed to bring 10 kilograms, and in your hand luggage, 5 kg.

  • The number of trekkers is fairly minimal if you go to EBC in the winter. The majority of the rooms in which you will be staying will be unoccupied. In certain circumstances, billing is free. However, charging will be exceedingly challenging and most definitely not free during the busiest hiking seasons. You may be required to pay the teahouse/hotel proprietors up to $5 per hour to charge your electrical gadgets.

  • Yes. You can hike to EBC on your own by following other hikers or groups. But we don’t recommend trekking alone. If you don't want to hire a guide and want to take any side roads that cross passes, consider hiring a local porter. It's for your own protection. Also, the safety of those who may be called upon to assist you if you become incapacitated.

  • The optimum time to go to Everest Base Camp is based on the activities you want to undertake there. Trekking is best done in the spring (March-May) or fall (October-November), whereas a helicopter trip may be done at any time outside of the rainy season. Winter isn't out of the question, though; if you are prepared for the cold, you will be rewarded with stunning mountain vistas.

  • Yes! Courtesy to the Everest Link company, WIFI is available at Everest Base Camp and over 200 hotspots along the way.

  • You can leave it at our office or keep it at your hotel (the majority of hotels in Kathmandu provide storage areas).

  • Before three months of trekking, you should perform physical activities like running and walking. To avoid experiencing altitude sickness when trekking, you should have a medical examination and maintain a healthy blood pressure level.

  • To avoid altitude sickness, acclimatization, regular hydration, adequate rest, and correct nutrition should be practiced. If you have discomfort, you should take altitude sickness medication.

  • Yes, it is feasible to trek to Everest Base Camp during the monsoon season, but because of the weather, it is not possible to go by flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Instead, you must use a bus or a jeep to get to Salleri, where you may then begin your trek.
