Annapurna Region Trekking

The charm of trekking in the Annapurna can be best described by the flooding number of people visiting the region. Full of natures bountiful gifts, the hills and dales, along with amazing mountain views of the Annapurna, Manaslu, Macchapuchhre, Dhaulagiri et cetera and varied flora and fauna makes it a must visit for every traveler. Treks to the region are marked as easy if you want to undertake a short trip to Pun Hill, the best view point with panoramic views of the beautiful peaks above the rolling hills. The level of difficulty increases as you try getting higher, to Upper Mustang, or the worlds highest lake Tilicho.

Annapurna region is also known due to its rare habitation of snow leopards and blue sheep. A variety of birds, butterflies and insects can also be explored in the region. Rhododendron forests typical to the hills of Nepal and other alpine and sub-alpine vegetation also forms an impressive array.

Ethnic people living in the region for centuries, cultivating the hilly slopes on terraces, and rearing yak, sheep and other livestock form a major element of the trek. Though the rise in the number of visitors every year, along with the construction of roads and other facilities have slowly affected the traditional lifestyle, many villages still preserve their centuries old identity. The Annapurna Conservation Area Project has also helped preserve the natural settings of the place.
