For individuals who have never hiked before, especially in the Himalayas, this voyage may be challenging. Because youll be hiking through treacherous paths with lots of hazards. On this adventure, you must hike for a minimum of 5 to 6 hours each day. There are several ups and downs on high, difficult terrain. For this journey, its necessary to be in good physical and mental health. Every trekking journey to Nepal poses a significant risk of altitude sickness. Because the routes pass through areas with elevations more than 4000m, trekkers are more likely to get altitude sickness. The trails on this walk lead you through challenging, remote, mountainous, and rough terrain. So youll have to go past these challenges and develop your abdominal muscles. The trekkers will also encounter a range of challenges, including small cliffs, rocky terrain, meadows, deep valleys, and roads paved with boulders, among others. Most hikers will find these lengthy treks challenging. Going for such a long distance may be too much for someone who has never hiked in these conditions before.
Your physical and mental health are the most important factors to consider before participating in a hiking or trekking. If you dont have the requisite prior trekking experience, you may start by cycling, jogging, and going for morning walks for a few weeks or months before making a reservation with us. It will be beneficial if you have prior hiking and climbing experience for the Everest Base Camp Trek. With a height gain of 5545 meters along the route, Kalapatthar is the highest point. On the path, which also travels through farmland, terraces, and sherpa communities, there are a number of ascents and descents. Therefore, you must be physically fit to walk for 5 to 6 hours every day. Trekkers also need to be mentally driven because a lack of confidence may typically result in pain and fear. We strongly advise you to consult your doctor before departing if you have a respiratory issue when you book a trip with us, and then send us a copy of the report.
Altitude sickness develops when the body is unable to adapt to the low oxygen levels and high air pressure prevalent in high-altitude Mountains. Since the oxygen level begins to drop at an altitude of 3000 meters, many hikers and mountaineers get extreme mountain sickness. Acute mountain sickness is characterized by symptoms such as headaches, exhaustion, nausea, shortness of breath, dizziness, lack of sleep or difficulty to sleep, loss of appetite, and others. Consider the following tips before climbing to Everest Base Camp to avoid altitude sickness:
Keep yourself hydrated when hiking and stay away from alcohol because it dehydrates you.
Maintain a healthy diet throughout the trip.
For this excursion to Everest Base Camp, travel insurance is mandatory. Green Valley Nepal Treks requires a copy of the complete travel insurance coverage certificate from each trekker before the hike begins. The only option is to remain an additional day if the flight is canceled due to inclement weather. The expense of the lodging will be your responsibility. Charter flights are occasionally made available by helicopter companies even when airlines cancel their flights. You have the option of taking a helicopter. You must pay the additional expense associated with this.
In the Everest Region, a mobile network exists. You may simply use your mobile phone for communication if you get a local SIM (NCELL or NTC). The network may frequently become inconsistent because this is a hilly terrain. In most locations, the network is strong enough to support both internet use and video calls. Additionally, for emergencies, our climbing guides have a satellite phone.
Your trekking guide will take the sick persons condition into consideration if someone gets unwell while out on the path. Your trek leader will choose whether to carry on with the journey or turn around and descend to a lower height. If the patients health deteriorates, an air ambulance will transport him or her to Kathmandu for specialized medical care. While an assistant takes care of the sick individual, the remaining member of the group will continue and finish the trip as planned.
You may either purchase mineral water in bottles or fill a reusable water bottle with boiling or sanitized water. While on the walk, you may purchase bottled and filtered water at the teahouses or lodges, which is safe to consume. All commodities, including water, cost more as you ascend. We advise our visitors to cleanse the water before consuming by treating it with iodine and other purifying chemicals. To keep hydrated at higher elevations, you must consume 3 to 4 liters of water daily at the very least.
There are western restrooms at every teahouse you visit. Rooms with adjoining toilets and hot showers are available in lodges and teahouses at lower elevations. The amenities will be more modest and the bathrooms will be shared at higher elevations. Please take note that in cases of extreme cold, the water in the toilet basin may freeze, prompting you to use an outside squat toilet. It will be best if you always have toilet paper and hand sanitizer with you.
To buy anything on the route, you must have local cash. There may be lodges in the Everest region of Lukla and Namche that take credit cards for payment. Carrying enough local currency to purchase necessities en route is strongly advised. You may exchange your money at any of Kathmandus exchange bureaus or receive local currency at an ATM by using your credit or debit card.
The journey can definitely be extended by a few extra days. We may add days to your journey at your request, but there will be an extra charge to cover guides, porters, lodging, and food.
Yes, you can eat vegetarian cuisine with no issues as most lodges provide vegetarian dishes. To prevent food poisoning, we constantly advise our clients to consume vegetarian meals. Eating large, meat-based meals at a high altitude is not very healthy.
We advise you to limit the weight of your trek luggage to no more than 15 kilograms. A maximum of 30 kilograms can be carried by each porter. We assign 1 porter to transport 2 duffel bags for clients. Please be aware that for the flight to Lukla, you are only permitted 15 kg of luggage, including your handbag. You will be charged extra for overage luggage.
Your additional possessions are kept in a safe place at the hotel where you were staying in Kathmandu and are locked up tight. Furthermore, our office is a secure place for you to leave your goods.
