A quick and simple hiking route is the Dhampus Sarangkot Trek in the Annapurna region. It is especially intended for those interested groups that do have a limited amount of vacation time or who could experience high altitude sickness. The finest trek for novice hikers and families with young children is this one. The Dhampus Sarangkot Trek will provide trekkers with a superb panoramic view of the Annapurna Himalayan Range, which includes the impressive Annapurna I (8,091m), Machhapuchhre (6,993m), Annapurna II (7,930m), Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Lamjung Himal (6,983m), Annapurna South (7,219m), and numerous other dazzling white mountains.

The Dhampus Sarangkot Trekking's additional attraction is its lush surroundings and terraced fields. Above the Pokhara Valley, there are two distinct locations: Sarangkot and Dhampus. Sarangkot is the ideal location to see the majestic Himalayan range at both sunrise and sunset. Similarly to that, Dhampus is a stunning settlement that is mostly home to the Gurung ethnic group and serves as a starting point for Annapurna Base Camp Trek and Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek. One of the most beautiful and straightforward short treks in the region, the Dhampus Sarangkot Trek Itinerary will lead you through magnificent middle hill communities of several nationalities. You will get the opportunity to soak in the changing colors of the mountain as you queue up wearing a veil, learn about the local culture, and come across their customary practices. The mountain is everlasting and is crowned with snow, always smiling.

For expansive vistas of the Himalayas from Dhampus, the Dhampus Sarangkot Trek is a particularly enjoyable climb in the morning. The Australian camp is only a 30-minute journey away from Dhampus, and most trekkers visit it in the morning for the beauty. The finest seasons for the Dhampus Sarangkot Trek are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), while it is feasible to go at any time of year. Rhododendrons are in bloom in the spring, when there is a little more color, and the sky is often clearer in the autumn. However, there are fewer tourists during the rainy season. Every season has its benefits.

A short drive from Pokhara will take you to Phedi, where the 3 Days Dhampus Sarangkot Trek will start. The journey then climbs through a rhododendron woodland and terraced farmlands before arriving at Dhampus. Along with the Brahmin and Magar ethnic groups, the Gurung people make up the majority of the population. Once there, you will have lunch while admiring the stunning Himalayan scenery, which includes the Annapurna, Lamjung Himal, and other snow-capped peaks. You will reach Sarangkot, a stunning vantage point, by continuing on the Dhampus Sarangkot Trekking Trail via the surrounding rice terraces, hills, and mountain scenery.

Walking will take close to three to four hours. The area provides views of the magnificent Himalayan mountains at sunrise and dusk which are both brilliant. It is amazing. Wonderful trekking may be done from Pokhara Valley to Sarangkot. Sarangkot is also the ideal site for paragliding. If it is included in the Dhampus Sarangkot Trek Itinerary, hikers can go paragliding above Fewa Lake. Otherwise, Pokhara is reached by the hike. Visitors can join up for further activities in accordance with their Dhampus Sarangkot Trek Itinerary when the trek is over.

Dhampus Sarangkot Trek Best Time, Season, Months

The best time to do the Dhampus Sarangkot Trek is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons. During these months, the weather is generally dry and stable, and the skies are clear, offering stunning views of the mountains and the landscape. The temperature is also moderate, making it comfortable for trekking during the day.

  • In the spring season, the hills and valleys are covered with colorful wildflowers and rhododendron forests in bloom. This makes for a beautiful and picturesque trekking experience.
  • In the autumn season, the skies are clearer and the weather is generally stable, making it easier to enjoy the panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. The autumn season is also a good time to explore the local villages and experience the local culture and festivals.

The monsoon season (June to August) is not recommended for the Dhampus Sarangkot Trek, as the region experiences heavy rainfall, which can make the trails muddy and slippery, and the mountain views may be obscured by clouds and mist. The winter season (December to February) can also be challenging due to the cold temperature and snow, which can make trekking difficult in some areas.

Food or Meal Availability on Dhampus Sarangkot Trek

The Dhampus Sarangkot Trek is not a higher-altitude trekking route. Therefore, there is a probability that you will be able to receive whatever type of food you like. Green Valley Nepal Treks will provide you with three meals each day—two breakfasts, two lunches, and two dinners—during the course of your walk. After supper, our guide will also give some seasonal fruits. The Dhampus Sarangkot Trekking Trail offers a variety of cuisines, including typical Nepalese food as well as Italian, Chinese, Western, Continental, Japanese, and others. However, because Dhampus is located in a somewhat higher zone, you could not find much stuff there. In Sarangkot and Pokhara, you can find anything you like to have. You will have lunch on the way to the next destination, while breakfast and dinner will be served at the same tea house where you slept while hiking.

Accommodation Facility on Dhampus Sarangkot Trek

Even though the Dhampus Sarangkot Trek is a tea house trek, Sarangkot in particular offers all the amenities found in urban areas. If you can afford it, you can have a private room with an attached bathroom in order to avoid having to share it with other hikers. In terms of lodging in Dhampus, a shared room with minimal amenities will be offered. You will receive a pillow, a nice blanket, and a modest bedroom. You could also have to share a bathroom that is outside of the room. The availability of electricity is a factor, though. Therefore, you may charge your electrical device for free.

The daily walking hours are around 4 to 6 hours, which is manageable for most people with a moderate level of fitness. It is recommended that you do some physical training and prepare for the trek, especially if you are a beginner. It is also important to acclimatize to the altitude and take enough breaks and rest to avoid altitude sickness.

The trek involves hiking in remote areas, and accidents or medical emergencies can happen unexpectedly. Travel insurance can help cover the costs of medical treatment and emergency evacuations if needed. In addition, travel insurance can also cover the costs of trip cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances such as flight cancellations, weather disruptions, or personal emergencies. When purchasing travel insurance, it is important to ensure that the policy covers trekking up to an altitude of at least 2,000 meters, as some policies may exclude coverage for high-altitude trekking. Overall, having travel insurance provides peace of mind and can help protect you financially in the event of any unexpected incidents or emergencies that may arise during the Dhampus Sarangkot Trek.

Altitude Sickness and Remedies during Dhampus Sarangkot Trek

To prevent altitude sickness during the Dhampus Sarangkot Trek, it is important to properly acclimatize to the altitude by gradually ascending and taking rest days as needed. It is also recommended to drink plenty of fluids, avoid alcohol and caffeine, and eat a high-carbohydrate diet to provide the body with enough energy. If you do experience symptoms of altitude sickness during the trek, it is important to stop ascending and rest until the symptoms subside. You can also take over-the-counter medication such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen to help alleviate symptoms. In severe cases, descent to a lower altitude may be necessary. In addition, some natural remedies can also help alleviate symptoms of altitude sickness. Drinking coca tea, a traditional remedy used by the Andean people of South America, has been shown to help alleviate altitude sickness symptoms.
