A truly mesmerizing atmosphere surrounds the town, with brick-paved streets, artistic wooden doors and windows in traditional houses of the inhabitants, and an array of well-preserved architecture. Bhaktapur lies towards the east of Kathmandu Valley. The Durbar Square at Bhaktapur is highly regarded among other attractions that surround the place. The city is also renowned for its special cap, called Bhadgaule topi and Juju Dhau (Yogurt).

Bhaktapur Durbar Square’s major attraction is the 55-window Palace which was created by King Bhupatindra Malla. This palace was the home to royal families till 1769 and has now been transformed into the National Gallery. The Golden Gate leads into Mulchok Court, home to the Taleju Temple which is dedicated to the worship of Taleju Bhawani. The entrance, however, is restricted to Hindus alone, and photographing Kumari, the living goddess, is strictly prohibited.

The Chagu Narayan Temple lies among the oldest Vishnu temple of Vishnu and was built in the early 5th century AD. The temple’s location also provides a magnificent view of the Himalayan ranges and the Kathmandu Valley.

Kathmandu Day Tour with Green Valley Nepal Treks

It was a wonderful experience that I just had with Green Valley Nepal Treks' Kathmandu Day Tour. Our knowledgeable and personable tour guide gave us intriguing insights into the city's history and culture, and the trip was well-organized. We saw some of Kathmandu's most well-known sites, such as the Pashupatinath Temple and the Boudhanath Stupa, as well as some lesser-known but no less intriguing locations throughout the tour. The visit to the Kumari House, where we were able to learn about the actual living goddess of Nepal, was the tour's high point for me. Overall, if you want to visit the cultural and historical landmarks of Kathmandu, I definitely recommend doing the Green Valley Nepal Treks Kathmandu Day Tour.
