Lhasa is the capital city of Tibet, which came into existence around 1300 years ago according to legends of Tibet. Located at an altitude of 3650 meters above sea level and situated on the north bank of Kyichu River, Lhasa, in Tibetan dialect means the ‘place of gods’. It is the center of politics, economy, culture, and religion in Tibet. The ancient and majestic monasteries and temples in the city have sheltered innumerable historical antiques, Buddhist scriptures, art, and craft. Over two million denizens reside in this land of affluent natural resources and primeval cultures.

The tour package of 5 days in Lhasa commences with a flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa which is similar to the feeling of taking a mountain flight in the morning hours in Nepal. This flight will provide you with the most picturesque mountain views along the beautiful Himalayas. In Lhasa, a Green Valley Nepal Treks representative will welcome you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. The next days would be spent in enjoying the sightseeing of Lhasa city where you will observe the magnificent Potala palace, Norbulingka, Sera and Drepung Monastery, Jokhang temple, the bustling Barkhor Streets, and many more. The fourth day is spent on leisure. On the fifth day, a flight back to Kathmandu is scheduled.

Our airport representative will welcome you at the Tribhuvan International Airport and arrange a flight to Lhasa. En route, enjoy the spectacular mountain views of the beautiful Himalayas. As you land at the Gonggar airport, you will be driven to Lhasa which is a 45-minute drive. From there, the local representative for Green Valley Nepal Treks will receive you and drop you at your hotel. You will have dinner and spend the night in the hotel.

Breakfast in the hotel. We then begin an insight into the Lhasa sightseeing. The whole day would be spent visiting some of the popular places like Sera monastery, probably the prettiest monastery you have ever seen, and Norbulingka Monastery, regarded as the biggest man-made garden in Tibet. Norbulingka means 'Treasure Park' in the Tibetan language and occupies an area of around 360000 sq m. Also, the famous Jokhang Temple located in the center of Old Lhasa consists of a religious relic of a golden Shakyamuni Buddha brought as a gift by the Chinese Princess Wen Cheng. Barkhor Square, the bustling market which is the religious and social focus of Lhasa is a must-visit where you can purchase as many souvenirs as you want to take back home. Return to hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.

After breakfast, we set out for another day of sightseeing. Again the day is spent watching the valuable places of Lhasa like Drepung Monastery, once the largest Monastery giving shelter to 10,000 monks in its heyday, and Potala Palace, the former home of the Dalai Lama is the beautiful piece of art. Return to hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.

Time for leisure. After breakfast, you can either visit Tibetan Medical Institute or go shopping or involve in other activities on your own. Back to the hotel, dinner, and overnight in Lhasa.

Have breakfast early morning. Depart from Lhasa to take a flight to Kathmandu from Gongar airport. You can either take a flight back home or make arrangements for the next program with Green Valley Nepal Treks and elongate your stay.
