14 Days Everest Base Camp Trek provides a magnificent taste of Tibetan culture at a high altitude, as well as wonderfully colored vistas of rhododendron woods and gigantic views of the Himalayas, including the worlds tallest peak, Mt Everest. After arriving in Kathmandu, the stunning venture begins at Lukla (2840m) and continues to Phakding (2610m), Namche Bazar (3440m), Phortse Village (3810m), Dingboche (4260m), Duglha (4620m), Lobuche (4190m), Gorakshep (5140m), Kalapatthar (5545m), upto Mt. Everest base camp (5364m).
The full trip from Lukla to Everest Base Camp and back, including acclimatization hikes in Namche Bazaar and Dingboche, as well as the hike up and down Kala Patthar, is 81 miles / 130 kilometers, dont be concerned about the distance; youll do it in 14 days. On average, the daily hike will be 12 kilometers and approximately 6 to 7 hours.
Lukla, at 2800 meters, is the lowest place from which you may begin hiking, while Kala Patthar, at 5645 meters, is the highest point from where you can obtain a clear glimpse of Mount Everest summit. You will be able to feel the impacts of the rise in your body as you ascend. As you hike towards Everest Base Camp, you will gain about 400 to 800 meters in elevation each day.
All of your accommodations on the EBC Trek route are likely to be teahouses. Teahouse lodging in Nepal is modest, clean, and pleasant specifically designed to accommodate visitors. The majority of rooms are basic. They have low-rise mattresses with foam mattress pads, wood-paneled or plastered walls, and, for the most part, only one window.
Some teahouses feature in-room heaters, while others have a central burner that is lit in the evenings. Some hotels provide hot showers, while the majority only provide cold ones. Most places have electrical charging, nevertheless it may be at a charge.
People who have hiked major distances with a heavy backpack over many years may find the route to be reasonably easy. People who dont have access to hills or arent used to hiking or exercising on a daily basis, on the other hand, will need to work hard to prepare for this trip and will certainly find it challenging. Similarly, as you grow older, you will require more practice. Getting the proper training and making the necessary preparations for the journey will be crucial to your pleasure, safety, and success.
Before ascending to Everest Base Camp, make sure you have all the needed details. Decide how you will prepare. Learn about the treks elevation increases and daily distances. When you add in the lack of oxygen, you have a solid training routine. Remember that muscular strength and particular physical fitness are essential for long days and distance walking at altitude.
Recommend to eat soupy foods like noodles, soups, stew, etc. as they are quite good at high altitudes. During your Everest Base Camp Trek, you dont compromise on the food at all. There are a variety of options from typical Nepali dal-bhat, soups, snacks, momos, fried rice, to Chinese and continental dishes like noodles, spaghetti, spring rolls, and steak.
Trekkers will begin their adventure at 1300 meters (Kathmandu) and travel to Lukla straight (2800 m). They will have to adapt their bodies about 3400 m after Lukla, which would take roughly two days. As a result, hikers are at a significant risk of developing altitude sickness.
Altitude sickness, often known as Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), is an illness that occurs when people are not adequately acclimatized to a high altitude. To minimize altitude sickness on the Everest Base Camp Trek, follow these advice from our expert trekking guides and trip planners.

Although Nepal is a reasonably safe destination to visit for both men and women, you can never be certain that your health or property will be safe. Having your belongings insured will alleviate any fears you may have about their security. Getting insured and forgetting about your worries may often lead to a pleasant trip.
Extreme weather changes, as well as a variety of risks like altitude sickness, accidents, and plane cancellations, are all part of the Everest Base Camp expedition. Stumbling, pulling a muscle, or getting altitude sickness may all be dangerous. Even for the most basic of illnesses, finding someone to cure your condition at such a high altitude may demand paying insane amounts of money. If you need to be rescued from a helicopter, your flight expenses may be raised or even treble.
Other forms of incidents, such as petty theft, luggage damage, and airline cancellations, are also a possibility. So, we highly recommend that you get EBC Trek travel insurance since there are so many stuff that may go wrong on a lousy day.

Day 7 :Acclimatization Day in Dingboche (4410m)• Accommodation: Tea House

• Trek Time: 4 to 5 hours
Because of the higher altitude, an extra day is required for acclimatization. You'll be rewarded with a spectacular view, but you'll need to get some rest in order to complete the final leg of your adventure. On this day, you might choose to visit Dingboche and the surrounding villages of Chhukung and Imja or take rest for next hike. Short hikes can be done in a variety of ways. Nagarjun Hill (2,128m), and Chhukung Ri (5,546m) are all possible hikes. The top of Nagarjun Hill provides views of Mt. Makalu, Mt. Lobuche, Thamserku, Ama Dablam, and other peaks.

Peaks like as Khumbuste (6,636m), Lingtren (6,749m), Pumori (7,161m) may also be seen. In a usual hike towards Lobuche, we might easily become fatigued walking across the mountainous terrain. Only a few residences exist in Lobuche.

We will walk to Gorakshep after breakfast in Lobuche. It will take between two and three hours. After that, we'll stop at Gorakshep for lunch. We'll begin our journey to Mt. Everest Base Camp after lunch. It will take roughly 3 to 4 hours to go to Everest Base Camp from Gorakshep. Everest Base Camp is breathtaking. From the base camp, we get spectacular views of the Nuptse, Khumbuste, and Pumori peaks. We hike back to Gorakshep, where we will spend the night, after taking in the scenery.
Day 10 :Trek from Gorakshep (5140m) to Kalapatthar (5545m) then Pangboche (3930m)• Accommodation: Tea House
• Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Faced with the problems of thin air, we'll take the scenic route to Kalapatthar, with views of Lingtren, Khumbutse, and other peaks. We'll take in a close-up look of Everest and the spectacular dawn before returning to Gorakshep for breakfast. We end this day by trekking down to Pangboche, where you can see the oldest monastery in the region, which contains the scalp and bones of a Yeti.
Day 11 :Trek from Pangboche (3930m) to Namche (3,440m)• Accommodation: Tea House
• Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
• Trek Time: 7 to 8 hours
• Trek Distance: 9.1 kilometers
From Pangboche the route descends to the riverbank to pass the Imja Khola Bridge and then continues to Tengboche. The Dudh Koshi River is reached after a long descent from Tengboche. We cross the Dudh Khoshi River on a suspension bridge on our way to Phungi Thanga. To go to Namche Bazaar, we pass via the villages of Tashinga and Sanasa. Then, to reach Monjo, gently pass the gorgeous scenery and the Larja Dobhan.
Day 12 :Trek from Namche to Lukla (2840m)• Accommodation: Tea House
• Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
• Trek Time: 4 to 5 hours
• Trek Distance: 13.5 kilometers
The steep descending route continues on the final day of the expedition. Trekkers must travel slowly, steadily, and in a balanced way over the steep rocky terrain till they reach the Dudh Koshi suspension bridge, passing through the wide plain and rhododendron woodland while taking in the distant vista of snow-capped mountains. Take a last glance at the beautiful Himalayan Mountains and bid farewell to the Khumbu Valley and Mount Everest in the early hours of the day.

• Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
• Flight time: 35 to 40 minutes

Day 14 :Final Departure or onward for next program • Meals: Breakfast

View MorePlease note that often the Kathmandu-Lukla-Kathmandu flight gets delayed by a few hours or may even be canceled for one, two, or more days due to unfavorable weather conditions. Such conditions may arise even in the best seasons. Hence, in such cases, you must be prepared for long waits either at Kathmandu or Lukla airports, as this can happen either at the start or end of the trek or even both! We will do our best to avoid such delays, and arrange the next flight for you. We also organize Helicopter rescue in such conditions, if it is available and upon request by our clients. The helicopter charges around USD 3000 and it can lift 4-5 persons per flight. Still, we suggest you to be prepared for possible delays/cancellations, and if possible to come with some extra buffer days (1-2 days) at the end of the trip to accommodate such delays. If everything runs smoothly and you still have a few days of your buffer days left then you may even engage yourself in optional activities which can be arranged by Green Valley Nepal Treks upon request. The optional activities may include visiting places/landmarks of your choice, adventure sports, shopping, etc.
Yes! Trekking to Everest Base Camp is really worthwhile. Especially in October and November, the sights are breathtaking. Base camp is bustling with climbers during the expedition period of April to May. If you think you can accomplish this hike in the winter, there will be significantly less other hikers and climbers, and the vistas will be much clearer. It will, however, be more difficult and chilly!
Yes. You can hike to EBC on your own by following other hikers or groups. But we dont recommend trekking alone. If you dont want to hire a guide and want to take any side roads that cross passes, consider hiring a local porter. Its for your own protection. Also, the safety of those who may be called upon to assist you if you become incapacitated.
The altitude is the major risk of trekking to Everest Base Camp. You will spend three days at a height of 5,000 meters. Slowing down and taking the appropriate acclimatization days will significantly lessen the risk. Avalanches are extremely unusual, and there have been no reports of them on this route.
There are many possibilities! It will take 12 days to get from Lukla to Lukla if you use the standard and most common route. The number of days required to visit Gokyo Lake or the Three Passes varies between 14 and 16. It will take 18 to 20 days if you trek in from Jiri and fly out from Lukla.
The Everest Base Camp Trek will cost between USD 1030 to USD 1150 per person in 2023.
The cost of the Everest Base Camp Trek is subject to the requirements of trekkers. When searching for Everest Base Camp Trek cost, different price ranges can be found depending on the travel agency and services offered.
You will immediately notice the difference in air temperature when you arrive at Lukla. The temperature will have fallen when you reach Dingboche (above Namche Bazaar). The higher you get, the more youll be able to feel chilly weather. Temperatures can drop below -20 degrees Celsius at night during the winter.
March, April, May, September, October, and November are the best months to do the Mount Everest Base Camp Trek.
The spring and autumn seasons offer reasonable temperatures, clear skies, almost no rain, and less chance of challenging snowfall.
To trek to Everest Base Camp, you dont need any technical knowledge or climbing abilities. Be advised that this is a hike, not a climb. There are no high passes to traverse, either. However, there is the issue of altitude to consider, and you must properly acclimate. This will be accomplished if you hike with a knowledgeable guide. If youre going solo, keep an eye on your health and take it gently.
Since 2010, the Everest Region has had 3G access. It does not, however, operate in all situations. You will not obtain service in various regions of Gokyo and the Thame Valley.
Yes! Courtesy to the Everest Link company, WIFI is available at Everest Base Camp and over 200 hotspots along the way.
We booked a 12 day Everest base camp with heli out package with Green Valley Nepal Trecks. The experience has been perfect from start to finish. We booked with Arjun and he was so helpful. He patiently answered all our questions and took care of us upon arrival and leaving Kathmandu. Our guide Gopal was the best! - honestly cannot fault him at all. He went above and beyond to accommodate us and make sure we were comfortable throughout the trip. He managed to find ...
