Scenic Flight to Lukla from Kathmandu

Generally, we start Everest Base Camp Trek by flying to Lukla from Kathmandu domestic airport. The flight to Lukla from Kathmandu operates by a small twin otter plane. This flight to Lukla from Kathmandu will offer you the best views of Nepal Himalaya & landscape. The flight to Lukla from Kathmandu will take 35 minutes.
 

Landing at Lukla Airport (2860m)

Lukla airport knows as Tenzing Hillary airport as well. The Lukla airport is recognized as one of the most dangerous airport in the world because of the short runway & it is located in the lap of the mountain. The weather in Lukla constantly changes. So that flight to/from Lukla is delayed or canceled frequently. Sagarmatha National Park (World Heritage Site)

Namche Bazaar is known as the capital of the Sherpa people. Generally, we stay one extra day in Namche Bazaar for acclimatization during Everest Base Camp Trek. This acclimatization day will be really helpful to hike up to Everest Base Camp. On this day you could explore Khunde, Khumjung village, Tibetan market, Sherpa museum, and Everest View Hotel. Namche Bazaar is the main shopping area for those people who use to live around Khumbu Region. You could buy good trekking equipment in Namche Bazaar. Also in Namche, there is a café and a small bar where you could enjoy yourself on the way back from Everest Base Camp.

Tengboche Monastery

Tengboche Monastery is the oldest monastery in the Everest region. Tengboche Monastery is one of the major attractions of the Everest Base Camp Trek. This is located in Sagarmatha National Park at a height of 3,870 above sea level.You could participate in a praying ceremony in Tengboche Monastery. From the Tengboche, you could get a chance to see panoramic views of Nuptse, Lhotse, Everest, and Ama Dablam

Everest Base Camp (5364m)

Everest Base Camp is located at a height of 5364 meters above sea level. From the Everest Base Camp, you can’t see Mt. Everest but still, you could see other mountains Lhotse, Pumori, and many more. You hike to Everest Base Camp via Khumbu Glacier from Gorakshep. Gorakshep is the last village before the Everest Base Camp. During the spring season, there will be a full camping tent for climbers. After visiting the Everest Base Camp you will hike back to Gorakshep and spend overnight.

Khumbu Glacier

Khumbu glacier is the biggest glacier in Nepal, it is about twelve kilometers long which is lies between Everest, Nuptse, and Lhotse. Khumbu glacier is known as the world's highest glacier which starts from the Everest Base Camp. The beautiful views of the Khumbu glacier and Khumbu Icefall are some of the major attractions (highlight) of the Everest Base Camp Trek.
